The labyrinth project is to design and promote The construction of Spiritual Labyrinth walks.
The first design calls for a simple 11 circuit labyrinth with a 12′ center in the sand. The center has a yin/yang symbol making up the center. Not the best picture. I will try to improve.
The next design is to create a right handed 11 circuit labyrinth with added spaces. The center will be 28′ dia with a table that is 20′ dia amd accommodates 20 chairs set 3.142 ft apart. After entering the labyrinth the first room appears about i/4 way around the center. the dimension of the space is optional. These spaces are for self editing. More about that later, Lets call this space CLEARING ROOM. This is the beginning of the meditation journey where the you can take time to become aware of the sensations in your body like the feeling of air in your lungs to the feeling of your feet on the ground etc. Once you are feeling present and comfortable it is time to continue the journey while trying to stay focused on where you are. Each time you notice yourself thinking of something that is not in the present pull yourself back to the now. Eventually you will come upon the next open space. I will describe in another page many optional spaces that can be incorporated into the labyrinth and provide a link from here. When building it the spaces are added at the edge of a path. The next path coming to the space will simply go around the outside of the room. Subsequent pathways will follow the last one around the space. There is no specific shape required for a labyrinth. Even building around an abstract shape in the center will work fine.
So the center may be a round table. The table could also be a round counter with room in the center to prepare and serve food. The original thought was a solid round table that could also serve as a platform to play music or have various live events. The table can be one piece or many. The many would provide more options for use. I like having room for a gathering of 20 people around the table. Of course if you want one for religious services then you might go for the smaller labyrinth with a 12′ diameter table and 12 chairs. That would give room for Jesus and the 12 disciples. lol
